The book is not over
After turning the last page.
There is so much more left ahead,
But how much we have left
Is a secret well kept.
Our lives are in the Book of Sand.
Each page we have already passed
Lives now only in our minds.
Each page truly is
a once-in-a-lifetime offer.
We cry, and laugh;
We wince, hope and grin
While we think back of the chapter
We have read already.
Would you not give everything you have to read the good pages again?
But there are no bookmarks;
Nothing.
Just the memory.
Some prefer to keep trying to find the nice parts,
And turn back again and again with despair,
As the sand runs through their fingers
And the water slips down the drain.
Others accept what is coming,
And welcome itt with open arms.
But, who cares?
The pages that come next
Are for sure more interesting, anyway.
